Dr. Bill Greer, vice president for institutional advancement, was announced as the 15th president of the college today.

Early this morning the Board of Trustees met to vote on the Presidential Committee’s recommendation.

The announcement was made at 11a.m. in the Gregory Fine Arts Center.

The presidential search committee consisted of 11 individuals. Six came from the board of trustees, Milligan’s governing board; one each from the administration, the faculty, and the student body; and one from the board of advisors, which represents supporting churches.

After 14 years of service, President Donald Jeanes announced his retirement from the presidency last October. His last day in office is July 15.

Initially, more than a dozen candidates were in the running for the presidential slot, Hamilton said. He would not say how many candidates are still under consideration.

Hamilton asked committee members to keep their deliberations confidential until they made a recommendation to the board of trustees. Until then, they were not allowed to discuss specifics about the search.
