Residence Life’s Grillapalooza cookout — complete with food, music, and sunshine — drew more than 100 students from all over campus to the front porch of Kegley on Monday evening.
Stephen Feryus, the Resident Assistant of Kegley , said that he grilled 150 hamburgers and 80 hotdogs throughout the evening.
“I enjoy putting on events like this,” Feryus said, “because it’s a good excuse to kick back and relax.”
That’s exactly what students did. After a brief wait in line for chips, macaroni and cheese, cole slaw and more, students relaxed on the green grass and enjoyed an evening with friends.
Although many students see events like this as an excuse to take a break from studying and get out of the dorm, Feryus sees it as more.
“It’s a good avenue for Residence Life when people may only see it as rule enforcing,” he said. “If we’re able to put coffee on like we do on Monday mornings or grill out with Grillapalooza, it’s a solid tangible means of doing something for people that they appreciate.”
