The Milligan College soccer team fell short to nonconference opponent, Young Harris 3-1, Thursday night at Anglin Field.
Despite their best efforts, the only goal for Milligan was scored in the 57th minute by Un-Ace Wright (Clarendon, Jamaica), in the second period.
Assistant coach Jason Keever said he was disappointed with the way the Buffaoles played.
“The game was fairly even and could have gone either way,” Keever said. “ It also hurt us not having one of our starting forwards”.
Senior Moïse Léonce (Port-Au-Prince, Haiti) was also disappointed with the game’s turnout.
“I don’t think we played well. We had a lot of chances, but in the end, we couldn’t find the net,” Léonce said.
Both Keever and Léonce agreed that there are ways to improve the team’s performance.
“We need a better worth ethic. We have been doing well, so everyone is getting comfortable,” Léonce said. “Our team needs to work extra hard in order to achieve wins.”
Fans of the game however, had an overall positive outlook on Thursday’s game.
Cerissa Warner, a senior nursing major, said she thought the team did an excellent job.
“ I think they worked very hard. It was a pretty even match, but I was proud of their composure when they were hurt and put down,” Warner said. “I am looking forward to the next game, because I am certain they will come back better and stronger than ever.”
The next game for the Men’s soccer team is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 11, when they host AAC for Virginia Intermont at Anglin Field. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
