Milligan College hosted the graduate school and seminary fair Thursday, Oct. 18, to inform students about furthering their education.

Representatives from 21 different schools gathered in the Gregory Center to educate students and explain the advantages of furthering their education at the graduate level.

Some students voluntarily got information about specific programs offered, while others were required to learn how graduate and seminary programs could help them in the future.

Courtney Blair, a sophomore from Cincinnati, Ohio, was particularly interested in Western Carolina University School of Nursing.

“This fair was extremely helpful because I was able to gather information from different schools so I can compare programs and chose the program which best fits me,” said Blair. “The Mountain State Health Alliance makes Western Carolina University’s nursing program ideal. I would be able to work and go to school without having to put my education on hold.”

Shannon Jewett, a sophomore from Raleigh, NC, attended the graduate school and seminary fair as required for the course MLGN 200, Introduction to Calling and Career.

“If it weren’t for this class, I probably would not have attended. However, this fair was extremely helpful. I’m glad I was able to gather information about graduate school programs in the area,” said Jewett. “I only wish they had more schools that offered programs in accounting.”

The Introduction to Calling and Career is designed to prepare students for a career related to their academic major. This class offers information that prepares students for the work environment and gives insight on furthering your education at the graduate level through these types of events.
