Milligan men’s soccer team lost 3-2 against Virginia Intermont in their semi-final game Nov. 8 at Anglin soccer field, missing out on a chance of advancing to the tournament finals and regional nationals.

The Buffaloes, who hosted the Appalachian Athletic Conference tournament, came up short in a close match that went into overtime.

Senior Crispin Ochieng placed the Buffaloes in the lead with 8:56 remaining in the first half. At half time the Buffaloes led 1-0.

Appoximately four minutes into the second half, Ochieng scored the Buffaloes second and final goal, pushing Milligan further into the lead.

Virginia Intermont fought back and scored their first goal with 27:21 remaining in the second half. The buffaloes made several more attempts to extend the lead but were not successful.

With 10:32 seconds remaining, Virginia scored the game-tying goal. The half ended and with added time of two ten minute sections, the golden goal would decide the winner.

In the first of the two 10 minute sections, Virginia scored to seal the victory.

In earlier semi-final action, Tennessee Wesleyan defeated Bryan College 4-1 to advance to Saturday’s tournament finals to be played at the Anglin soccer field. The game will be at 6 p.m.
