Will This Season Be a Blowout?

Last Friday night, the Milligan baseball team took on Johnson University in what seemed to be a really close game.

The score was close going into the bottom of the first inning, but then the  Buffalos took the plate to bat and everything changed on the field. The game became really ugly, really fast. Milligan scoreed two runs before the first inning was over and won the game 11-0.

I, Matt Goehner, actually have a friend who is on the baseball team for Johnson University. He couldn’t play in the game because he was hurt, but I was able to talk to him during the game. He had no problem joking about how bad Johnson was, he shared with me that Johnson had zero scholarship athletes in it’s programs. When he told me that I immediately understood why the game had turned so ugly so fast.

There was a pretty good crowd for a freezing cold Friday night, mainly because residential life was nice enough to have a tailgate before and during the game. A good number of students showed up. As the crowd dwindled, we thought the weather was decreasing numbers. It felt like it was 20 degrees and the wind was awful.

Over all the night was a success. The baseball team played well and won the game. The Matts hope that night was a glimpse of good things to come for this year’s Milligan baseball season.

There is a home baseball game against Berea College this Friday at 2 p.m.
