As Christians, we like to take things slower than the rest of the world. Since Valentine’s Day is this week, we thought it would be best to give our advice for couples or those who are hopeful like ourselves.

We believe that this can be a time of great joy for people, but great temptation. You should be prepared to know what you’re getting into and be willing to set boundaries when dating.

Our base theory was invented recently in an attempt to better understand the rules of Christian dating. Let us enlighten you.

Remember, as Christians, we go around the bases twice. In total, this should take you an average of seven years.

First Base: The Glance

The glance is when two people catch each other’s eyes while passing. Do a double take to let them know that you are interested.

Second Base: Hugging

It can be more than just a side hug, but don’t get too crazy.

Third Base: Holding Hands

We’ve had a lot of disagreement between second and third base. But trust us, these are tried and true. We’re professionals.

FIRST Home Base: Cuddling

Cuddling while watching a movie or something is fine. Obviously, both of you need to be vertical. Obviously, both feet should be on the floor. You may lean into one another if you so choose. And a shoulder-to-shoulder thing is safe. The same goes for a head-to-shoulder position. But don’t push it.

SECOND First Base: Kiss on the Cheek

This can last between .5 second to 1 second. This can lead into bigger temptations, but you’ve already gone around the bases once. You can persevere!

SECOND Second Base: Kiss on the Lips

But it better be quick!

SECOND Third Base: Making Out

But again, this should not be done often. Both participants should be vertically standing. Each session should last less than 20 seconds and can only happen once a week for the first week, two times for the second week, so on and so forth.

SECOND HOME BASE: ALL BETS ARE OFF

Anything goes as long as you’re married and it’s just between you and your spouse.

The distance between the last third base and home is a LONG TIME. But you can do it. Also, don’t feel bad if it takes you a long time to round the bases. As Jim Bob Duggar, star of “19 Kids and Counting,” says: “Be careful at what you’re doing, because you’ll probably do a lot of it.”
