Has there ever been a time when you wanted something cute and crafty in a room, but you just don’t want to put that much effort into it? Here is a cheap and simple craft that will have a section of your room glowing with color!

Let’s just start off with getting the simple supplies that can all be purchased at Dollar General for a dollar or LESS. This brings joy to any broke college student’s thoughts!

Depending on what size you desire, go and buy a votive candleholder. If you already have one – great!

Whatever the color scheme is that you have going on within your dorm, home, or wherever; buy tissue paper that coordinates well. With the theme of my room being black, green, and blue – I decided to go with the green.

Next, you’ll need a pair of scissors.

Now we are going to go back to old school like we are in kindergarten! Let’s bring out our Elmer’s glue! Woo! Childhood memoirs come rushing back!

With your scissors, cut a strip of the tissue paper and divide it up into decent sized squares

If you want to get messy like you did as a child – you are more than welcome to use your fingers. Using a brush (or your fingers), smear some glue onto the votive holder and put a square of tissue paper over it.

Continue this all over the votive holder until it is completely covered. You can do different designs with the top or you can just leave it smooth.

You are also more than welcome to add an accent design on top of the tissue paper!

Put a votive candle (or a batter operated candle) inside and let it shine in the dark!

Quick! Simple! Affordable! Who can go wrong with this? This will cost you, assuming you already have a pair of scissors, the approximate amount of $3.50. Not too shabby!

Hope you find this to be enjoyable and fun!
