Many of us have grown up college basketball fans.
Likewise, many have lived in areas where everybody was a fan of one or two teams. That experience somewhat diminished the thrill of March Madness.
However, here at Milligan the tournament teams are always well-represented. On a campus where you have students from Massachusetts to Texas, Washington to Florida and everywhere in between, it’s a guarantee that there will be numerous fan bases represented during the NCAA Basketball Tournament.
There are emotional ties to be sure.
In some cases we have friends who now attend the schools we grew up cheering for. That just adds fuel to the fire. When the games are on, the various fan bases are out in full force in the cafeteria. Each TV is tuned to a different game and the atmosphere is more exciting than in some stadiums. Then there’s the campus-wide bracket challenge that is hosted by the CAB. That really brings out the fans in each of us as we pick our teams (sometimes against logic) in the hopes we will have bragging rights.
“Expert” means nothing in March on Milligan’s campus. “Madness” is the flavor of the month and one that the campus wholeheartedly embraces. Buckle up Milligan, it’s going to be another mad March.
