I have recently come across numerous advertisements for an upcoming movie called “Spring Breakers” starring Vanessa Hudgens, Selena Gomez, Ashley Benson, Rachel Korine and James Franco.

The film, due out on March 22, is supposedly a story about the wildest Spring Break trip in history.

I haven’t seen the film, but after watching the trailer, it got me thinking about what the concept of Spring Break is about for our generation.

Maybe this film will demonstrate every college student’s desperation for adventure.

The question is: What is out there beyond our college bubble?

These days it is easy to feel stuck or rather trapped on campus performing the monotonous daily tasks that make up our busy lives.

But what if we could change all of that? What if we could create excitement for ourselves? How would we do it? What would that look like?

I think at our age we crave new experiences and thrills, even if we are scared to step out of our comfort zones.

This is probably why students all across the United States flock to either coast to soak up the sun each spring in hopes of letting loose, finding love or simply forgetting about all responsibilities.

A worldly view of Spring Break is more accurate to the type of vacation represented in this film. It might look like something straight from MTV Spring Break that we all were prohibited from watching as children.

So hear me on this: I’m not endorsing this film by any means. See it for yourself.

But, the film looks like it will at least speak to the idea that kids our age seek adventure and a break from the norm.

Because for many of us, there is a hidden desire to do something we’ve never done before, try on someone else’s shoes, shake things up a bit… if only for one week between classes.
