The Buffalo Nation is larger than ever, according to Milligan’s President Bill Greer who announced record enrollment and retention rate highs for the college this morning in chapel.
With a 4.2 percent increase from last fall, the total student body has grown to 1,213 people. This also comes paired with a record-setting retention rate for Milligan, with freshman to sophomore retention peaking at 86.2 percent and overall retention hitting 92 percent.
“This doesn’t happen by accident,” said Greer in a press release today. “A lot of people work very hard to ensure that you are having the very best Milligan experience possible.”
This spike in population will also add pressure to the physical changes that Milligan’s campus is undergoing this semester, according to Greer. Trouble finding parking spots or overcrowding in the cafeteria are results of a bigger Buff Nation. But improvements will come.
“I know that more students mean that things can seem a bit crowded at times, or that you might have to park a little father away, so thank you for your patience as we grow,” said Greer.
This announcement comes on the heals of Milligan recently being named among the nation’s top 100 schools that offer students the “Best Bang for the Buck,” according to Washington Monthly magazine.
