The new Milligan men’s volleyball team stampeded the court this Sunday, during its first practice.

“We have a great group of guys on campus, that I’m excited to work with,” said Head Coach Doneva Bays.

The men’s team is slated to play 8-12 games this upcoming season, with the first match in late January.

Amongst this fresh new team is a group of freshman including Bryce Buckland (Blountville, Tenn.), Joshua Foote (Louisville, Ky.), Nathan Gibson (Kingsport, Tenn.) and Hobie Vannoy (Morristown, Tenn.).

The two sophomore players, Tony Miner (Worden, Ill.) and junior Christopher Shaw (Edwardsville, Ill.), hail from Illinois.

The men’s and women’s teams practice together, and they have already made an immediate bond, which sets them up for a successful career as collegiate athletes, according to Bays.

With her focus currently on the women’s team, which holds a 4-8 record, Bays is eager for the guys season to get underway.

“I’m looking forward to being the first team, and creating traditions that will follow with the other teams…and just playing and getting better as a team,” said Foote.

The Buffs will make history as they stampede the courts this spring.

The team is looking for more players. Tryouts for walk-on positions were held last night.
