Milligan senior Dan Ott had his senior show this weekend, in Sub 7. The show, “A Number,” is a two-man show that starred Ott and Professor Dennis Elkins.
“A Number” was written by Caryl Churchill and is a very intense show. Although it is a two-man show, it involves four different characters.
Ott was very excited about acting in and directing a two-man show.
“This show was exactly what I wanted it to be,” Ott said. “It was very in-your-face, and it did not have that feel-good ending that a lot of the shows at Milligan have.”
Freshman Tyler McElfresh found the performance quite interesting.
“It was well played by both actors,” McElfresh said. “The story was a little confusing to follow. I may have to see it a second time to get it fully.”
This feeling was shared by Paul Craley. Craley is a friend of Dennis Elkins and comes to Milligan theatre often.
“This is a very different kind of show,” Craley said. “The whole time I was wondering what was really going on. I was very engaged the whole show.”
Playing opposite Ott was Elkins. Elkins was asked to be in this show by Ott over a year ago.
“This is the most difficult script I have ever worked with,” Elkins said. “It is a very heady show and takes a lot of you as an actor. In fact, [Ott] and I would only practice the show one time a day, because I just couldn’t handle how emotional the show is.”
“I am very pleased with how the show turned out,” Ott said. “I hope that it made people think.”
