Senior Reflection by Summer Heath

Until mid-March of my senior year in high school, I had no idea I would be attending Milligan College. Truthfully, I had never even heard of Milligan until Coach Tony Wallingford began recruiting me to play college golf. I’ve loved the game of golf ever since my older brother David put a golf club in my hands, and I think it’s been a true gift from God because it came naturally to me.

The main reason I came to Milligan was to play golf. I can specifically remember my campus visit like it was just yesterday. As soon as I stepped foot on campus I fell in love right away. The view of the surrounding mountains took my breath away. Coach Wallingford, however, was actually the deciding factor for me to come to Milligan because I had never met a more generous, caring and dedicated coach in my entire life.

I look back sometimes and wonder what it would be like if I had not attended Milligan or where I would be, but the fact of the matter is that this is where God wanted me. If given the chance to go back I wouldn’t change a single thing. I have met some of the most amazing people over the last four years and made memories to last a lifetime. The girls on the golf team are like my second family. We have definitely had our ups and downs, but we have overcome every obstacle set in front of us. Although I am excited to leave Milligan and continue working toward my dream of a career in the medical field, leaving those girls will be one of the hardest things I have ever done.

Some of my best friends have been made here at Milligan and I don’t know where I would be without them. My teammates Kayla Kmetz and Kaitlyn Harville have been with me from the first day and it will be an honor to walk across the stage in May with them. Friends for life! Most of the memories that stick out to me have come from our golf trips. My main memory was the WWE throw down in the hotel room with Madison Smith! It’s on video folks, so see Brittany Branker for additional commentary.

Speaking of Madison, you are my best friend and we have had tons of fun and crazy times together. I wouldn’t take back a single second of our time at Milligan and I will miss you dearly. Finally, I just want to give a huge thank you to all the professors in the science department for pushing me to be the best I can be.
