Milligan’s health fair on March 21 saw over 200 students, faculty, and staff attend the event at the Gregory Center. This year’s fair took the cake and replaced it with fruits and vegetables.
“Every spring we have a wellness fair,” campus nurse Susie Dayton said. “It’s in conjunction with Milligan’s nursing department.”
The big attraction was the “Mega Heart,” which let people of all ages wander through the 14-foot tall model of a human ticker.
“It was cool to be able to walk through the areas of the human heart,” senior CIS major Sean Martin said.
Besides the Mega Heart, the fair also featured various booths operated by nursing students, massages and an informative “drug trailer” from Chattanooga. A booth run by the Gilliam Wellness Center offered fruit and gum.
“It was a different kind of March Madness,” said Martin. “The massages were nice, as well as Dr. Charlotte Anderson’s Alexander Technique,” Martin said. “The food was great too. The obesity and nutrition booth’s taste test had a fruit pizza that was delicious.”
Martin said the fair was “very informative and interesting,” and encouraged people to attend next year.
“I want to thank the students for their hard work.” Dayton said. “They really made it amazing with their advertising and their ability to get people involved.”
