Empty pizza boxes lined Fireside Lounge in the McMahan Student Center on Tuesday night after the conclusion of Pizza with the President.
Milligan President Bill Greer organized the event in hopes of creating “open dialogue between him, students and members of The President’s Cabinet.”
Throughout Greer’s presidency he has made it clear that establishing relationships with Milligan students is one of his number one priorities. Since Greer’s recent transition from the classroom to the president’s chair, he hasn’t had the opportunities to connect with students on a one-on-one level that he was accustomed to.
“I want students to feel that I’m very accessible and come to me with issues and questions,” Greer said.
Director of Campus Activities Katy Mosby assisted Greer in advertising and promoting Pizza with the President. Mosby was pleased with the turnout of over 50 Milligan students and shares the same hope for the relationship between Greer and students.
“I hope that it’s a chance for students to mingle with Bill and with the cabinet and be comfortable approaching them,” Mosby said.
Greer was both pleased and also excited with the final result of the event; and according to Mosby, hopes to continue this type of event in the future.
“You put out a little email and you get a room full of students and a room full of empty boxes, it’s been great,” Greer said.
