Abortion, healthcare, and gay marriage are some of the key issues Milligan College students will be deciding on as they head to the polls this coming November.
“My family is a middle-class family and it really worries me what could happen to the middle class,” said Zack Maclellan, a 20-year-old junior from Chino, Calif., whose main issue is the economy.
He also looks at other issues when choosing who to vote for, including gay marriage, abortion, healthcare and what he thinks is most important, the economy.
“I really have not looked into politics that much, but I need to look into it soon,” said Maclellan.
Mackenzie Patten, a 20-year-old sophomore from Kingsport, said that unemployment is one of the biggest issues in this election. She said that there is a problem with the people provided with unemployment checks, some of these people really do not need while others do not even try to look for a job.
She added that health care is a very important issue because she wants to find a job in the healthcare field within a few years.
“With the issues in healthcare it really worries me about what it will be like in the next few years when I am about to graduate,” Patten said.
Gay marriage, illegal immigration, and the economy are also all important to him.
“Michigan is one of the top states for unemployment, which really worries me,” he said. “My hope in the upcoming election is that people are informed about the candidates before they go to the polls, and not use the media as their information source.”
