Milligan had a record number of 600 people who pre-registered for last weekend’s Homecoming events and an estimated 700 visitors.
“I’m always amazed at the number of alumni from out of town who make it back each year,” Director of Alumni Relations Theresa Garbe said. “This campus represents important, formative years in the lives of our alumni, and being here reinforces the bonds of a community that is uniquely Milligan.”
Homecoming featured three new events: the “Celebrating Milligan Authors,” a Science Major Reunion and the “Our Musical Heritage” concert.
The Celebrating Milligan Authors event was held to acknowledge past alumni who have written their own books including 1978 graduate Mark Webb and his devotional book, “Running with the Grasshoppers.”
“It’s always nice to be at Milligan,” Webb said.
The Science Major Reunion introduced past alumni to current students. Alumni shared stories of time spent at Milligan and their present careers. A new club in the science department, the Society of Scientific Christian Scholars, was also formally introduced.
“Our Musical Heritage” highlighted different vocal and instrumental ensembles and marked the 30th anniversary of the founding of the Heritage a cappella group.
