Single bedrooms, multiplebathrooms, spacious kitchens, modified meal plans and lotteries were the talk at the Milligan Village housing complex open house today.

Only next year’s juniors and seniors who have lived on campus for one year may apply to live in the new housing complexes. The rooms will be filled by lottery. Students who have received suspensions cannot apply.

There are 90 beds and 18 suites within the five Village buildings, and Housing Director Kate Anderson said Milligan housing will draw until they fill them.

Applications to live in the Village will be available after Easter Break on Tuesday, April 2. The applications will be collected Friday, April 5, and the lotteries will happen on Tuesday, April 9. Applications will be filled out by suite, not individually. Each suite will house five people.

How the Lotteries Work:

There will be three separate lotteries. If your suite has five seniors, your application will be put in the first lottery, giving you a better chance of making it into the Village. If your application has three to four seniors, it will be placed in the second lottery, and applications with less than two seniors will go into the last lottery. The more seniors you apply to live with, the better your chances are.

Village Housing Cost:

Housing in the village will cost $5,400 a year, which also includes a modified meal plan.

What is a Modified Meal Plan?

Students who live in the Village next year will be on a modified meal plan, which means that students will receive 75 cafeteria meals a semester. That allots for around five cafeteria meals per week.  Students will be on their own for the remaining meals.

Comparing the Cost:

These numbers are based on this year’s prices of a combined housing and meal plan for each building. These numbers for next year are subject to change in an announcement made by Vice President Lee Fierbaugh tomorrow.
