New parking spots are coming soon behind the Village.

After meeting with the contractor on Tuesday morning, Brent Nipper, director of property & risk management, was pleased with the final steps of construction.

“If all goes as planned, the parking area should be open no later than the end of next week,” says Nipper.

Approximately 35 new spaces will be open behind the Village in a new parking area, which is essentially an extension of the current parking lot. This new lot is located to the southwest of the back of Jeans Hall and will connect down to Toll Branch Rd.

Parking has appeared to be an issue this semester with many students finding themselves having to park down in the canyon. The new spaces are much awaited.

“This will open up spots in front of MSA, so hopefully people will be able to park in their own lots,” said senior Ian Isley.

When Heather Espeland, a senior living in the Village heard about the addition she said, “Perfect!”

“We need more parking, so I’m glad it’s happening,” said Espeland. “It will also be nice to have construction done, so the mornings will be more peaceful.”

After these spaces are put in, there are no plans for addition parking spots, according to Nipper. However, as the Milligan Village expands, more parking will be added as needed.
