The hunger strike is up. As of September 18, students could begin feeding their craving for Apple Inc. as the new iOS 7operating system was released.
Within four days since its release, the Los Angeles Times reported over 200 million downloads to iOS devices. This makes iOS 7 the fastest growing software update in history, according to Apple.
Favorite updated features include:
Automatic app update: In order to save time from application upgrades, iOS 7 updates apps when phones are not in use. Phones are able to register the times users use their phones the least, updating apps at those times to save battery life.
Photo app: The Photo App now allows square photos to be taken and has an easier way to switch between camera options. The camera also has the ability to add filters before or after photos are taken.
iTunes Radio: iTunes Radio is Apple’s version of Pandora with the option to choose stations by artist, genre or song.
Control Center: By swiping upward from the bottom of your device, you will gain access to the new Control Center. This allows users to control the main functions of their phone such as wifi, Bluetooth, volume, songs, brightness and the iPhone’s flashlight.
Blocked Contacts: iOS 7 now supports the ability to block contacts from messaging, calling and FaceTime.
Ringtones/Alarms: iOS 7 offers new types of alarms and tones. These vary from relaxing and fun alarms to additional ringtones.
New Siri: The new Siri has a male or female voice option.
Time stamps for all messages: iSO 7 users can view the time they sent or received a message by swiping their finger to left while viewing text conversations.
App folders: Now users can put an unlimited number of apps in categorized folders.
Alongside the new iOS 7, Apple also unvelied two new iPhones on September 13. The iPhone 5s and the less expensive 5c.
