With the donation of the new presidential home last month, Milligan College now owns a spacious house to host guests and further the mission of the school.
The donor did not desire to be recognized for this, but rather preferred it to be a simplistic gift to the Milligan family.
President Bill Greer expressed the positive emotions that he and Edwina have regarding the new home.
“We’re really excited about how it will bless Milligan,” he said. “It is a beautiful, spacious home that sits on ten wooded acres with amazing views. We are humbled that the donor would believe enough in Milligan’s mission and in the direction we’re headed to give us this property. It is a real statement of support and trust in Milligan and what we’re about as Christian, liberal arts college.”
Greer stated the donor wanted the home to be “used by a faith-based non-profit to help fulfill the organization’s mission.” The home is to be both a personal residence for the presidential family as well as a hospitality venue that will continue to build community within the college and hosts guests.
“We hosted nearly 500 Milligan related guests in our personal residence last year alone,” said Greer. “This home gives us the opportunity to do that and more. We moved in a couple of weeks ago and have already hosted a couple of dozen Milligan students, coaches, staff and donors.”
Greer reminds the Milligan community that one of the major responsibilities of the president is ‘friend raising and fundraising’ for the college.
“This home provides amazing new opportunities to fulfill this part of the job,” he said.
The home is located in Johnson City off of Carroll Creek Road.
