The annual Mr. Buff pageant was held on Friday, February 7 at 7:30 p.m. in the Gregory Center Theatre.
The evening was filled with laughs and tears as the seven contestants attempted to convince the judges why they deserved to be named the buffest of them all.
The event began with a group dance to “I’m Too Sexy For My Shirt.” Towards the middle of the dance, Branden Jones ripped off his shirt to reveal a Superman outfit.
The question and answer round included very diverse topics such as: What do you plan to do after graduation?, What is your most embarrassing memory? What kind of food would you be if you were a food?
The talent portion of the competition consisted of everything between several contestants singing heartfelt love songs to Caleb Nix’s balloon animal hunting skills.
While the judges were deliberating their hard decision, the reigning Mr. Buff, John Crowe performed a rendition of Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean” as well as an original song.
Senior Branden Jones was crowned the 2014 Mr. Buff, with freshman Elias Quintero as first runner-up, and sophomore Caleb Nix as second runner-up.
